This 40 hour course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge of animal related law and enforcement. Specifically, the course will cover areas of professionalism, safe care and control of animals, as well as officer safety techniques which include the use of personal protection tools and effective communications skills. Course content includes animal law, tactical communications, handling vicious and dangerous animals, defensive tactics, and bite stick (baton) and O.C. pepper spray training. On the last day of class, a field trip will be taken to the Sonoma County Animal Shelter located at 1247 Century Court, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
